We’ve been at the beach since Wednesday and it’s been a fun trip so far. Ben is sleeping in his “McQueen” sleeping bag on top of a twin bed. He has rolled off a couple of times, but we’ve built a very thick layer of blankets and pillows to ensure he doesn’t get hurt. Below, I’ve embedded a video of me reading “If You’re Happy and You Know It” to him. He really is at a very cute age (excluding the tantrums, demands, and general fussiness )…
This year, I think Ben got Halloween. He enjoyed the trick or treating, the candy, and the other kid’s costumes. I was glad to see he wasn’t scared, but more just curious this time around. This was also the first time Ben came to know the candy known as Sweet Tarts.
Oooohhh…Fox has announced Office Space will be hitting Blu-ray on February 3, 2009. This will be a MUST BUY for me as I love this movie. I’ve owner 2 copies on DVD (original and special edition) and now I will buy it again!
Ben saw the cupcakes before he left daycare and he asked us about them continually for the next 1.5 - 2 hours before we went back for the Fall Festival. When he finally got his cake he didn’t waste anytime and seemed to thoroughly enjoy it
I totally thought this video should have been redubbed to “Oh Yeah” by Yello. Don’t pretend like you don’t know the song; just think Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!
Rock!
Unfortunately, once I mixed it in, the video seemed somewhat taudry. It was just wrong for the setting so I dropped it, but still the song totally fits the cupcake eating and Ben’s complete obsession with getting “my cake”
Heather posted a good write up on our Sunday morning at the NC State Fair. I have to say the crowds got to me and I’m quite sure that Ben’s slight bratty behavior didn’t help, but all in all it was a good time. She already posted the video below, but I liked it so much I decided to include it here as well. Unfortunately, I had to carry that Dora around much of the fairgrounds as Ben ate or played. Oh well
I bought the ‘Cars’ hat for Ben earlier this year while on the North Carolina Coast. Heather then got the idea to dress Ben up as a race car driver for Halloween and bought the ‘Cars’ jumpsuit. Tonight, he tried it on for the first time and loved it
Oh, and as far as the pain train goes…Blame Heather for that and just check this out to understand.
We started out the day by going to a pumpkin farm. This was a lot of fun, especially for Ben. He had a friend there named Katie and they got to walk through two corn mazes, go on a hayride, play on a slide, feed some goats, play on a hay pile, and pick out their very own pumpkin. The whole deal lasted almost 3 hours and I got some fun footage out of it (some of which can be found below).
The video above is from later Saturday night where Ben and I were trying to carve the pumpkin. I absolutely love Halloween and I hope Ben will also grow to love it with me. After all, it’s harder for an adult to go trick or treating when he has no children.
So, Heather and I went to Taget on Sunday night to get some stuff for Ben. What she didn’t know ahead of time was that I brought my Flip Mino to capture footage of “Domo“, Target’s 2008 Halloween mascot. I got some strange looks and some bewildered comments from Heather, but as much as she doesn’t understand a lot of the things I do, she has learned to tolerate them and live with it
Here are some links capturing the news about Domo:
