So, I just bought a Flip Video camera not too terribly long ago and guess what, they released a new Flip Mino HD version yesterday. 720p in the same tiny form factor. I hope that we can pick one up in the future, but for now, I will wait to see how the reviews hold up.
Ugh, I should have known this would happen the moment I clicked ‘Add to Shopping Cart’ at Amazon
Well, I think I will end my night of election watching. Obama has won…thus far without my state’s help, but so be it (come on NC, get those last few counties in!). I have to say that both the concession and acceptance speeches were excellent and well presented. McCain redeemed himself somewhat in my eyes by doing exactly what he should have for the good of the country and Obama showed us an even more presidential side with his Grant Park speech. I’m looking forward to the day he is sworn in and I have hope for what can be done in this country. Now in closing, here are some things I hope can be taken on:
Properly fix the economic issues and ensure this horrid bailout achieves some good result (if possible)
Get us out of Iraq (to the extent possible)
Properly work to rebuild/rewin Afghanistan
Curtail the corporate welfare that seems to know no bounds
Fix the copyright system and return it to its roots of ensuring the public good while protecting innovation
Fix our global reputation
Repeal/Rewrite the DMCA
Ensure net neutrality
Twitter from the oval office
I’m sure there are more…
Good night and just think, we should pretty much be done with campaign ads
I sure hope that when I wake up, the final states will be complete in the presidential election and that California’s prop 8 will have gone down in defeat!
Oooohhh…Fox has announced Office Space will be hitting Blu-ray on February 3, 2009. This will be a MUST BUY for me as I love this movie. I’ve owner 2 copies on DVD (original and special edition) and now I will buy it again!
Possibility of suckage is high, but I am a SUCKER for all things superhero (except Catwoman which was just downright evil). I just enjoying watching these things most of the time. Which is why so much is getting made. They KNOW there are geeks such as myself who will gobble it up
A sad day…acting legend Paul Newman has passed away. I’ve mentioned his health a couple of times in the past as he has been fighting a battle with lung cancer.
Here is a small selection of my favorites from his huge filmography (81 credited TV shows/films as an actor):
Well, the Senate has unanimously passed the PRO-IP act, “Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act” (Barack Obama, you commently disappointed me on this issue). They did strip out the clause that effectively deputized parts of the US Government to act on the behalf of the content owners. This is now going back to the House of Representatives.
Here is the e-mail that I wrote to my congressman, David Price of the 4th District of North Carolina:
Mr. Price,
As one of your constituents who is interested in protecting my rights as a citizen and the fair use rights that currently exist, I urge you to vote against the bill that the Senate has just passed, “Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act”, S.3325. It is now up to the House of Representatives to act sanely and in defense of the citizens of this country by telling corporate interests that laws that prop up a failing system and a failing business model (RIAA) are not in the public interest.
Please stand up to the corporation and say that the system needs to be fixed rather than simply passing additional penalties.
Thank you,
I doubt this will do ANY good as it is obvious that our government is completely in the pocket of corporations and cartels like the RIAA.
Great excerpts from an interview with Jon Favreau about Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and beyond. He really drops some interesting tidbits about where his head is and what he’s considering doing in the future. This really does just confirm for me that between Favreau on Iron Man and Nolan on the Batman series, we have the two best guys keeping things fun for those of us who love the superhero genre…
Spoken menus is quite a cool addition. I’m glad to see Apple is spending more time attending to universal access. This is an oft overlooked feature set that should be given solid attention. Now, it would be much more impressive if they added this functionality to more of the recent iPod/iPhone line, but one step at a time I guess…
As anyone who reads this site with any regularity knows, I have some things that I am somewhat obsessed about. I thought I would spend a bit of time talking about these things a bit at a time. So for the first part, technology news!
I love to stay up to date on technology news. I follow large numbers of websites via RSS and Atom feeds. I also follow multiple podcasts. I thought I would focus on the latter first. My favorites at the moment for tech news are from the TWiT network, cnet, Revision3, and Major Nelson:
I also periodically follow Systm from Revision3, Engadget HD, and Phone Different. I’m constantly trying out new podcasts and I spend a lot of my time listening in the car going to/from work. I really want to know as much as possible about everything that is going on at any given time. Specifically, I care quite a bit about Macs, Windows, iPhone, gaming, general technology news, legal impacts to technology, etc. I would guess 90% of it is useless trivia, but I just like knowing it all the same.
As soon as I find a good way to post my OPML files in a human readable way, I’ll talk about all the news I follow from the computer and iPhone.
