Well, unfortunately Ben has bronchitis, but he’s had some fun recently. A couple of days ago, we picked up a LeapFrog Clickstart My First Computer. He’s enjoying it, but he’s also still frustrated just as he was with a Sesame Street game on a PC. He simply doesn’t feel comfortable using the mouse and I seem to be having a hard time helping him. The mouse on this little guy isn’t the easiest to use, but other than that, it is nicely targetted at little ones. We’re still onlyusing the built-in games, but I think Dora, Cars, and such are in our future.
Another item that has recently shown up is a new book. Dinosaur vs. Bedtime which has gone over really well. The book is really cute and it involves a lot of roaring.
ROAR…ROAR…ROAR…Dinosaur Wins!
Ben totally loved this book tonight and you were in with the smooth move to tie it to getting him to take his medicine. you rock…
Alex doesn’t understand how to use the mouse yet either. I would suggest waiting until Ben can use the mouse to get the other games. We got Dora as a potty training incentive for Nate and there are no games on it that use the letters on the keyboard – just the mouse and arrow keys. Alex wants to play it but doesn’t understand how to play it.
I do like the basic games on the ClickStart that help teach the fundamentals of computers.
Oddly, Nate is a natural on the keyboard. He is constantly showing Alex how to move the mouse and which buttons to press. It’s kinda nice to have someone do my job for a little bit
Well, I think I just need to be more patient & work with him. It’s his short attention span that frustrates me, but I want him to have a positive experience with technology. I want him to get the best of what Heather & I are. For me, that means loving a connection to technology & generally being a big kid at heart.
