PRO-IP and the further bastardization of our laws

Well, the Senate has unanimously passed the PRO-IP act, “Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act” (Barack Obama, you commently disappointed me on this issue). They did strip out the clause that effectively deputized parts of the US Government to act on the behalf of the content owners. This is now going back to the House of Representatives.

Here is the e-mail that I wrote to my congressman, David Price of the 4th District of North Carolina:

Mr. Price,

As one of your constituents who is interested in protecting my rights as a citizen and the fair use rights that currently exist, I urge you to vote against the bill that the Senate has just passed, “Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act”, S.3325. It is now up to the House of Representatives to act sanely and in defense of the citizens of this country by telling corporate interests that laws that prop up a failing system and a failing business model (RIAA) are not in the public interest.

Please stand up to the corporation and say that the system needs to be fixed rather than simply passing additional penalties.

Thank you,

I doubt this will do ANY good as it is obvious that our government is completely in the pocket of corporations and cartels like the RIAA.
