89 views to go in 25 hours

So, not that I’m vain, but I do enjoy seeing how many times my site is viewed each day, week, or month. Well, since I started using Wordpress.com last September, I’ve been somewhat climbing month over month (with a couple of abnormalities). I know before that point I probably was at a lower level of site traffic and what I’m doing now is peanuts compared to most people, but to me it’s fun :)

Jon Favreau on where Iron Man 2 is…

IESB.net – Movie News, Reviews, Interviews and More! – EXCLUSIVE: Jon Favreau On Iron Man 2, Marvel, Avengers and More!

Fun interview clip with Jon Favreau about Iron Man 2, the Dark Knight, upcoming Marvel films, and comic book filmmaking in general. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him and I love to hear what he has coming. My faves of him acting definitely boil down to PCU & Swingers. He is a fun actor (enjoyed him more than anyone else in Daredevil) that has directed some good movies that didn’t click with me. I think in general people thought Iron Man would be a flop and he knocked them all down. I followed the news as the film was in production and you could just tell that he loved the source material. That buys you a lot with me and it makes me respect the movie that much more.

Can’t freaking wait for Iron Man 2…

Album Only…psssshhh!

Wanted Soundtrack on Amazon MP3

Wanted Soundtrack on iTunes

I saw both Wanted and Forgetting Sarah Marshall today and I found that I really liked a couple of songs from the movie, one by Nine Inch Nails and the other is called “The Little Things” which turns out to be by Danny Elfman. The former is not even on the soundtrack. I went to look for the soundtrack online and I realized that most of it is score which makes sense, but I still wanted the song “The Little Things”. Well, it is marked ‘Album Only’. WTF? Some might think this is Apple or Amazon’s doing, but it isn’t. They both have it setup this way which tells you that almost certainly that this is the record company.

Do they think that by setting it up this way that I will say, oh, whatever, I’ll just buy the whole album that is 90% stuff I don’t want. Hell no I won’t. All they do is one of the following:

  • Not sell anything as people are just annoyed by the lack of choice.
  • Drive perfectly happy consumers to pirate the song.
Neither makes them a dime, so why don’t you all just wake up and realize that above all, consumers demand choice. Give it to them, or fade further into irrelevance…

Wishing you well, Mr. Newman/Doc Hudson!

The Pixar Blog: Will ‘Cars 2′ go ahead without Doc Hudson character?

It’s very sad to hear that Paul Newman is fighting lung cancer. I must have missed the news previously, but it seems he isn’t really talking about it in public. I know that means he likely won’t be able to perform as the voice of Doc Hudson in Cars 2, but regardless of that, I hope he gets better. He is an amazing actor and I would hate to see that talent not on display any longer. I’m glad John Lasseter is focusing on the wait & see. Let’s not be morbid and just see what the future holds. The man is definitely a fighter!

WALL-E Quicktime VR

The Pixar Blog: WALL-E virtual set tours

Some very cool Quicktime VR 360° vids that show areas from the upcoming flick with some voice over. Fun to see if you’re really jones’n for it like I am.

Hellboy 3 is likely coming!

IESB.net – Movie News, Reviews, Interviews and More! – Exclusive: Guillermo del Toro and Doug Jones on HELLBOY 3 and THE HOBBIT!

Guillermo del Toro announces that Doug Jones will have a part in the upcoming Hobbit films. He also went on to explain that he does plan on working Hellboy 3 into his increasingly busy schedule. Assuming Hellboy 2 hits the same highs for me that the first did, I’d be content for him to just keep on cranking out sequels. I can’t wait for July 11th, iPhone 2.0 firmware & Hellboy 2 ftw!

George Carlin dies at 71

Daring Fireball: George Carlin Dies at 71

George CarlinI don’t think he would want us to mourn his passing, but I think John Gruber at Daring Fireball gave a short, but proper eulogy for the man who taught us to ignore society and sometimes (all the time?) just say the wrong thing.

Go read John’s piece and then murmur ”shit” and “fuck” for good measure ;)

Review: Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda Movie Poster

4 out of 5 stars

Given that I’ve been on solo-daddy duty for the past week, I decided to go watch a movie tonight. I still want to see Iron Man for the 4th time, but I am saving that to see with Heather. So, it was either Kung Fu Panda or Get Smart. I decided to go with the former and I was very pleased with the flick.

Basically, this is the grand story of good vs. evil told in the scope of a small village that needs to defend against the evil Tai Lung. Well, what they need is the mysterious Dragon Warrior (think…ooohhh!) Well, this is where Jack Black’s Po (the Panda) comes into the story as he is looking to escape his mundane life and join the ranks of the Kung Fu masters. The characters are fun and the basic moral of the story is a nice addition. There isn’t anything utterly ground breaking here, but the script, the voices, the jokes, and the wonderful animation (and yes, it is that damn good) come together to make a VERY fun movie.

I actually have a question for you all (especially the parents among you). Let me give you some background before the question. I let Ben watch some shows with me, such as the new animated Spider-Man or Batman. We also watch stuff like Pixar/Disney films together. However, I am concerned about him watching TV/Movies with too much violence (even animated violence). Yes, I am probably allowing too much violence in the superhero cartoons. Kung Fu Panda has no blood and no one really dies (well, kinda, but nothing bad).

Am I being stupid or overly protective? I know he would probably enjoy it, but I don’t want to promote negative behaviors such as punching and kicking. I just don’t want to shelter him too much…

Thoughts?

Are Gas Prices Killing You?

Blood Car Movie Poster
I Watch Stuff – ‘Blood Car’ Poster! And How About Those Gas Prices, Eh?

At first, I thought this was a joke, and of course it is, but I mean as in … not a real movie. But, it really is. I can’t say I want to see it as I’m not into gore, but the idea & poster just struck me as funny in a ludicrous kind of way! Seriously, this poster has it all: car (with vanity plate I might add), blood, axe wielding driver, half-naked passenger, funny tagline. What more could you ask for? Oh, you want a plot? Then check this…

The plotline from IMDB:

In the near future, gas prices are at an astronomical high. One man is determined to find an alternate fuel source. That alternate fuel source turns out to be blood…HUMAN BLOOD.
