So, if you look at the pages of some recent Marvel comic books, you’ll see that Colbert is pushing towards grassroots support for his Colbert ‘08 campaign. Marvel has even drawn and inked Colbert’s illustrated double.

All in all, it’s a fairly cool way to mimic the real world in the pages of the comics. Unfortunately for me, I rarely read the single issues and opt for the trade editions instead.

I’ve been following the news on the upcoming G.I. Joe movie and I personally think some of the characters look great. The whole flick could be a great experience and a fun ride, but I thought I would post some of the best pics so far here:
Check the IESB news site for more stories as they’ve had the best I’ve found for this flick so far!
Ray Park as Snake Eyes:

Rachel Nichols as Scarlett:

Sienna Miller as Baroness:

…and these are just the beginning of the likely great cast pics with some other fun actors/actresses attached to this production…
IESB.net – Movie News, Reviews, Interviews and More! – Maguire Still Spider-Man
Interesting report that contrary to the rumors, no one but Maguire is being considered for the role…
I have mixed feelings on this one. First off, I typically hate to see actor/character combos change during a series of films (sometimes it looks to be a good idea, such as Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes in The Dark Knight). I’m not sure if I would miss Tobey as Spider-Man, but the emo-Peter Parker just about did me in in Spider-Man 3 and I think a new actor could add flavor to the films. However, all of the rumored options sound absolutely pathetic to me at this point.
So, right now, none of the Spider-Man/Parker options sound wonderful, but I guess only time will tell…
I just saw this via Diggnation, but I can’t embed it as WordPress.com doesn’t seem to support the site. So, that being said, go check out McLovin’s Piracy PSA.
NSFW, also, do not click if you’re easily offended by foul language (and if you are, how would you know McLovin anyway? You couldn’t have made it through SuperBad with those sensibilities
)
Remember, Superbad’s Christopher Mintz (McLovin) ain’t no ghetto bitch!
IESB.net – Movie News, Reviews, Interviews and More! – No R-rated Films for Marvel Studios
Well, not entirely true, but anything they produce will not go above a PG-13, but they might partner with another studio to produce (ala Disney I would imagine). As much as I would like to see an in-house Punisher Max type film, I think this is an exceptionally good move on their part. Comic books aren’t where the money is, but using those properties to build hundreds of millions on the big and little screens is a great way to ensure my favorite characters will easily survive through my son’s childhood and possibly beyond…

I picked up Spider-Man and Wolverine in the past couple of days, but I cannot find Iron Man anywhere. If you’ve the Iron Man Mighty Muggs in the triangle region NC, PLEASE let me know! I’m considering dropping some cash to get him from an Amazon.com seller at a pretty decent markup, but I’d rather not

I found this via Laughing Squid. Basically, people have found images of animals within the lines and stops of the London tube system. I personally like the idea. Some of the animals obviously look better than others, but the creativity is wonderful.

The Secret History of Star Wars
This free e-book (PDF) may be true or it may be totally baseless. I don’t know and I’ve just skimmed a few pages so far, but it looks interesting just the same!

Tonight I picked up a new HDTV. This isn’t to replace my existing Samsung 40″ HDTV, but to sit in my office and to accompany me on the occasional trip (yes, I am that hooked on HD movies & games
). This particular unit is a Sony KDL-26M4000. It’s a 26″ 720P LCD and I have to say, it is quite nice. I had actually not expected to find this TV. I went to Best Buy expecting to pick up an HP w2408h monitor or some other 26″ LCD TV. I had looked for the Sony, but I wasn’t sure it was out yet as nowhere had it in stock (Amazon, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.). However, when I got there I noticed a single one of these Sony sets on the shelf. I quickly grabbed it, used my 12% off coupon, and made my way out of the store.
Now that I have it at home, I have to say that I am quite pleased with it. The picture, while smaller than my 40″ Samsung, seems more crisp and looks to have better black levels (however, I do not have them sitting side by side for a proper comparison). It has some nice features, such as proper input labeling, auto sort of input by use, auto blacklight control, etc. It isn’t fully feature-packed, but for the price, it is quite nice.
I’m watching the movie ‘Hitman’ on Blu-ray right now and the TV is about 2 – 2.5 feet away. No problems with quality at all with the exception of some occasional color banding which is somewhat expected in this price range.
All in all, a very good price to performance mix…
