Ian McKellan to play Gandalf once again…

IESB.net – Movie News, Reviews, Interviews and More! – Ian McKellan to Return as Gandalf

This is good news as it will provide some nice continuity between the LOTR movies and the upcoming Hobbit films. Plus, you just gotta love McKellan as Gandalf!

Obsession Item: Star Wars Muppets figures

Star Wars: Collecting | Star Wars Muppets Coming Soon

Star Wars-themed Muppet figures

Oh…I really want two sets of these. One to keep for Ben and one to open and put on display. No idea how much they’ll be or if they’ll be sold online (please…please…please) as they’re supposedly exclusive for Disney theme parks. If they can’t be bought online is there anyone going to Disney this summer who wouldn’t mind shuttling back a couple of sets? :)

Picked up the new Mario Kart today

Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart has always been a fun game in all of its incarnations. I can definitely say that if you enjoyed any of the past versions, you’ll probably find a good bit here to like.

Just to get the obvious things out of the way first. Yes, like ALL Wii games the graphics kind of suck, but luckily it’s damn fun :) Also, they have modified the game play options since the previous home console version. There doesn’t seem to be a coop mode where you can ride together in the same kart. Another annoyance is that the maps are pretty much pulled right from the Nintendo DS version. I was surprised to have played many of the maps before ;)

I haven’t touched multiplayer yet, but I’m sure I will soon. The game is a lot of fun and Ben has been playing with me which has been a blast. He can’t seem to keep the button for gas pressed though. Well, all things come in time. I think it will be a rather successful title. All in all, it seems solid and like any top tier first party game from Nintendo. They always do a good job.

All in all, I would give the game a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars based on what I have seen so far. Oh, and the Wii Wheel accessory is very nice and well made. Not too heavy and quite comfortable to use.

The Hobbit: The Official Movie Blog » DEL TORO TO DIRECT ‘HOBBIT’

Once upon a time, it was said that I was Peter Jackson’s bitch…

That time is no more…

Bring It! Mr. del Toro…

I may have a new master now ;)

Nike+ coming to iPhone?

Nike+ coming to iPhone, iPod touch | iLounge News

This could be good news for me as I have the Nike+ system, shoes and a Nano, but I now prefer my iPhone for some trips, so maybe soon I could use either? Also, the ability to transfer workout data prior to a sync could be useful. I’ll definitely be watching these news stories…

iPhone OS 2.0 & HW rev 2 rumor roundup

Roundup of some iPhone 2.0 news/rumor:

2.0 Beta 3: Bring the Search! – Phone different
Engadget – iPhone Contact Search & Meeting Invite Screenshot Gallery

Contact search, meeting invites, etc.

MacRumors – 3G iPhone Pricing to Remain at $399, $499? Launch At WWDC?

3G, but with price points unchanged and slightly new casing launching at WWDC in June?

These stories aren’t blowing my socks off for a brand new iPhone. I already spend the vast amount of my time on wifi, so EDGE isn’t the hindrance I had worried it would be. Now, then again, speed boosts are always welcome, but I would need something more to cause me to buy a shiny new iPhone (3G, more storage, 802.11n, longer battery life, etc.)

DTS-HD MA support coming to PS3?

PS3 firmware engineers interviewed, DTS-HD MA support on the way – Engadget HD

Interesting news on one of the gaps of the PS3 when it comes to Blu-ray playback. We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this one, but I can’t say this is at the top of my list, but, I am not an audio geek…

New Pixar films announced

The Pixar Blog: Three new Pixar films revealed

The Pixar Blog has highlighted a press release from the Mouse’s house that reveals some cool news, 3 new Pixar films including Cars 2! Now, with Toy Story 3 coming, I could really do with an announcement of an Incredibles sequel.

A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father’s kingdom and her mother’s life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right.

2012

Cars 2

Mater and McQueen will need their passports as they find themselves in a new world of intrigue, thrills and fast-paced comedic escapades around the globe.

Firefly Special Edition?

Firefly DVD news: Rumors for Firefly – The Complete Series: Special Edition | TVShowsOnDVD.com

I really hope this is true, but only if we get a Blu-ray version. I own the previous version and I don’t really buy DVDs any longer, but I would double-dip for a Blu-ray version. This should be very doable given that Firefly shows on HDNet or UHD (can’t recall which right now) quite often and it looks darn good.

Here’s hoping for a bit more brown coat celebration in my future :)

UPDATE:

TV Shows on DVD has confirmation from Fox that it will be coming out on Blu-ray!
