Movies I want to see in 2008

I’m sure there are many more, but here is the list I have so far… Starting with the most desired…

The rest, in no particular order…

Back from the Coast

So, today, Heather, Ben, and I rolled back in from the coast. Sorry to have not posted while there, but I didn’t have net access except for a brief stint while sitting in a Port City Java at Carolina Beach. I did find I could pick up a for pay wireless access from darn close to 1/2 mile away. I was rather surprised, but I do think the wireless in this new MacBook beats the pants off of what I had before.

The trip was a blast, but I am sad to be back in town. I really needed to get away and even though we have been gone since Tuesday late afternoon, it simply wasn’t enough time away. I really want 2 weeks of straight time off at some point with NO access to e-mail. Unfortunately, my Blackjack did tempt me to read from my corporate account a bit. I convinced myself that I needed to be responsive, but I shouldn’t have as I need to get away from it all sometimes. When I buy the iPhone, I think I will need to prohibit all work e-mail from that device…Ben is such a toddler. It really kills me how into everything he is. He’s also MUCH pickier on what he eats now than even what he was a couple of months ago. Heather says it is all normal and I do believe her, but it doesn’t make it any less of a struggle.

I’ve been listening to three new things while away on top of my podcasts:

Tonight after getting home, I also went to see Beowulf in Digital 3D. I’ll try to post a write-up soon (tomorrow?)

Finally stepped up to a new Mac

I’ve looked at all the Macintosh models and I do still want/plan on buying a Mac Pro at some point, but I settled on the MacBook. The MacBook Pro seems to have dubious advantages right now for a non-gamer (or at least someone who plans on using a console to play). I grabbed the black MacBook and so far I love it. It works great and is extremely fast (well, coming from a PPC-only world). Within 2 days, I had gone from 1GB to 4GB RAM and that has made a huge difference.

Thoughts:

  • Black is better than white (at this moment in time :) )
  • Edge of casing is a tad sharp and I catch my wrist on it occasionally. Looks wonderful, but wish it had a smoother edge.
  • FAST. The slower integrated GPU hasn’t really hurt me at all.
  • The screen is nice, but definitely consumer grade. It doesn’t bother me at all, but you have to know what you’re getting.
  • Very well built. Feels solid.
  • Love the new keyboard, much better than the MacBook Pro (although, I do miss the illuminated keys).
  • 1GB RAM is way too little.
