YES! Flash Gordon on DVD again!

Saviour of the Universe Edition DVD

DVD Review – Flash… Ahhhh

I love this movie, Flash Gordon, the stylistic popcorn flick/Queen rock opera and I have wanted to own it for some time, but the previous DVD release was pulled due to licensing issues with the music (I believe). Now, it is being released again in a “Saviour of the Universe Edition”. I know I’ll be picking this guy up on release day and hopefully no lawyers will get between me and my enjoyment of this flick again :)

Discs of TRON on XBLA?

Game Stooge » Discs of TRON to XBLA?

Wow! It has been a great week for Xbox 360 news and rumors. Discs of Tron was one of my fave games from back in the day and yes, I am that old! I’d love to be able to play this one again…

Beautiful Katamari Officially Coming to 360!

Game Stooge » First Screens of Beautiful Katamari Revealed

This is a title that I will pick up on launch day. I have played previous Katamari games a few times and loved them, but never picked one up for my PS2 as I didn’t play that system much. Now, I could finally play in HD. I know the game is not designed to be visually impressive, but the crisp screens are what I crave. Make sure to click on through and read the whole thing!

I do love anything HD nowadays… Click on through and look at the sprite comparisons between the original and the new HD sprites. I am looking forward to playing this. Very cool!

Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk!

Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk! – ComingSoon.net

Uhhh…wow?!?!

That feels like it came out of nowhere. I loved the first movie (one of the few who did I think) and Norton is one of my favorite current actors. This could be really cool, but I just can’t visualize him hulking out… Oh well, time will tell and I’m willing to accept that he will simply do a great job :)

Game Stooge » OFFICIAL: Xbox 360 Gets Keyboard Controller [UPDATE] Or DID it?

Xbox 360 keyboard controller

Hmmm…that is an interesting idea and it looks pretty snazzy. I might pick one up, but I’d have to see it in person first. Typing on the Xbox 360 is a PITA (codes for points, gamertags, etc.).

UPDATE: It is now official

This is an interesting tale of behind the scenes legal action and negotiation with AOL. Ultimately, it ends with Gaim changing its name to Pidgin which I think is rather cool now that I read the Wikipedia entry on what it means :)

Guitar Hero II and the Future?

Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360

So, I just ran out tonight and bought Guitar Hero II for my 360. Now, understand, I have never played the game before. Well, that isn’t true. I curiously picked up a demo guitar and punched a few buttons at Best Buy, but couldn’t take the idea of playing it in public :) Back to the story, I ran out and spent $90 bucks (BTW…great deal at Circuit City…you get a free 1600 Microsoft Point card worth $20 with GHII) on a game I have never played. I just had to check it out and this doesn’t really seem like a title you can rent given the guitar controller is helpful ;)

So, I popped it in and tried it out and all went well. Lots of fun and boy do I suck! Well, I can play it and I enjoy playing it. The level of suckitude doesn’t approach me playing a real guitar, but it definitely registers. The real issue is I have little dexterity in my left hand and my hands tend to shake a tad which makes keeping the fingers positioned on the fret buttons difficult. This is also why I am horrible at proper typing technique. I did notice that 30-45 minute session made my left hand rather sore, so maybe I’ll get better and improve my typing skills as well ;)

Anyway, I then hop on line and read more reports of “Rock Band” coming out. Harmonix (the makers of Guitar Hero II) is currently working on the title for Holiday 2007 and wow does it have people talking. Think GHII with a lead/bass guitar, drums, a mic, and online collaboration. Also throw in existing music as well as new user-generated content. Kick Ass!
