Tim Buckley (of Ctrl+Alt+Del fame) has some great videos posted on YouTube. The videos show his art prep and work from start to finish. Interesting to watch the whole process (and drool on what looks to be a Wacom Cintiq)…
Topic by topic, you never know what will wake the Badger…

Ben pulled himself into a sitting position and held it for a couple of minutes today. He did scare me a bit as he decided to use one of my DVD shelves to pull himself up, but at least he did reach for the original Star Wars trilogy.
Now I just wish I had grabbed my camera
So, we were at Christmas Eve evening service at a church (that will remain nameless) and they had a interesting, cough, skit, some music, a sermon, communion, and a candle lighting. The last two were nice, but I wish churches could sometimes stop the patronizing and the “preachy” attitude.
Just present some beautiful choral music that doesn’t require us to stand/sit/stand (potentially with a band accompaniment), communion (don’t go cheap; get the actual bread and wine/juice, forget the stupid wafers), a short sermon, and then the candle lighting. I don’t need to be told everything. Give me time to contemplate the promise that my faith offers.
Churches today want to spoon feed a message (interwoven with constant begging for money) and don’t usually walk the talk…
BTW, if you are tired of this line of discussion, it will likely end soon…
It has been a hard past few weeks. Works has been a challenge, but I wouldn’t know what to do if I were bored…
Ben turned 6 months old recently and we’ve had him baptized as the previous video showed. I am not a “religious” man, but I do consider myself to be a man of faith. I still follow the beliefs I have for years, but I simply don’t really believe in the “church” experience. It appears to me that today’s religions are in many ways antithetical to much of Christ’s teachings. However, I don’t want Ben to grow up without the foundations that belief and religion can provide. He needs to make up his own mind and find his own path without my bias interfering.
I’m not sure if that is entirely possible, but it is what I am aiming for. Only time will tell…
Here is the blog covering updates to the story…
This is the mental equivalent of watching a kick to the groin. It is just painful… Enjoy
