So, the clock is ticking. Baby Ben could be born any time now. It is awfully nerveracking to wonder about the timing. Luckily, Heather is now done with school and can focus on resting and getting ready. Outside of that, I know nothing. I am the driver and the support staff as the work is all done by H and H alone.
Hmmm…well, I went to go see X-Men 3 last night (well, Friday night as it is now technically Sunday) with a group of friends. There were definitely some moments that bothered me and some points where they got their facts completely wrong. However, I can’t actually say what I thought as I didn’t get to finish the flick. Somebody hit a power pole or some such and knocked out power to the whole area the theater where the theater was located. This happened right at the height of the finale. They were good enough to give us each a free pass, but it still sucks. I’m gonna have to figure out how this one ends
I think that is about it for today. We’re getting together with some friends tomorrow night, so maybe I will have some more photos up on flickr or a video… See you then…
I’ve been playing around with the new camcorder that I described here. So far, I am very impressed. I am just now reading the manual and getting some idea of what I am doing.
Below is the first video that I shot with the camcorder. It is a guide to Ben’s nursery. Not terribly exciting for everyone, but I enjoyed it
It is shot in a room with only an overhead 60W bulb and it is dusk outside. Luckily, there appears to be very little grain to the video and color reproduction is good, but it is a bit dark. I may need to get a light for indoor shooting, but I need to read up on that a bit more. I formatted it for the Video iPod and it was shot in 16:9 mode.
Well, here it is:
UPDATE: Video removed…check out more videos at my Apple hosted site…
Apple and Nike announced today that they have a new partnership, Nike+. More detail is available here. Basically, with a small dock addon, these new Nike+ shoes can communicate with your iPod and act like a very geeky pedometer and then sync with your computer to track your runs. I think this is a cool use of technology and if I were a runner (and I am definitely NOT), I would be all over this…
Well, I finally have decided on a new digital camcorder so that I can capture all the moments of our son’s life once he is born (only a couple of weeks left). I ordered the Panasonic PV-GS300 last night from newegg.

It has gotten really good reviews and is incredibly small (compared to my old analog camcorder). We’ll see if it meets all of my expectations, but I am pretty confident I made the right choice.

I thought I would post one of the best pics out of this past Saturday’s baby shower. The mothers headed back on Saturday night and Sunday morning and got home safely. We’re almost to the due date and I’m just ready to see young Ben…
For whatever reason, I am dead tired (even after getting 8.5 hours sleep) this morning. We went by Target yesterday and got some more baby stuff, including 2 more Baby Einstein CDs. I grabbed ‘Traveling Melodies’ and ‘Playtime Music Box’. Both seem like good choices. I hope he likes them
My mother and my mother-in-law are here in Holly Springs attending a baby shower the girls from the neighborhood have thrown for Heather. It looks like their having a good time, but Brian (my brother-in-law) and I escaped for a couple of hours and went to see ‘Poseidon‘. I’m kinda off the kick of writing movie reviews, but I will give it a rating at the end of this post. All in all, it was a decent popcorn flick, but not even great in that genre.
2 out of 5 stars
So, anyway, the shower is wrapping up now and we’re going to head out to see Rex Hospital and go to dinner.

Unfortunately, no critters but the cats in the house as we have Vegas the wonderful, but barking dog…
Hey all, I’m pretty tired right now. It was a long day at work and then I came home, ran to Home Depot, and then finished putting up the roman shades and valance (yes, I had to be told those names) in the nursery.
I think it looks pretty damn good and I will try to snap some photos in the morning (or later in the morning given the time).
The next few days will probably be very busy. Tomorrow we have a baby doctor appointment and then our final baby class that night. Thursday after work I have a fancy dinner and reception that I need to attend for the award I won late last year. Finally, going in to this weekend, my mom and Heather’s mom and brother are coming into town for a shower hosted by the ladies in the neighborhood.
Doubt I will be getting much rest
In my absence from posting to this blog, I have gotten really into flickr. I went ahead and signed up for a “pro” account and have a little over 1000 pictures up right now.
You can see my photos (as well as some I uploaded that have been taken by friends) here…

I’m sad
because I am having to recycle all of my old computers. This is all part of the plan to make room for baby and get the house better organized.
Honestly, given the choice, I don’t think I would get of them, but I haven’t been using them in a LONG while and it seems like a good choice. I did hold on to some older ones that I just couldn’t part with yet (Sun SPARCs, 2 Power Macintoshes, and a PowerBook amongst a couple of others. However, those might even be going soon…
