Review: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Movie Poster

5 out of 5 stars

Yet another 5 star movie review. Last weekend was an excellent time for the movies.

So, Heather missed this flick, but it was tons of fun. I do believe this was probably the best of the Harry Potter with the possible exception of the first film. I also believe this was the first British director which probably helped with the overall feel of the film. Don’t misunderstand, this film does totally ignore lots of the book. However, it doesn’t skip anything that is critical to main plotline. One other semi-negative thing is that I do terribly miss the beginning scenes with the Dursleys. They don’t show up at all in this film. Actually, no muggle activities show up at all. One of the best things available in this film is the exploration of the emotional growth of the teenagers. It is fun to watch the way they deal, and don’t deal, with the torture of a ball and dancing. Lastly, Ralph Fiennes does an exceptional job as “He Who Must Not be Named”. At first, I wasn’t sure that I liked his portrayal, but then he hit his stride and the evil just came oozing out.

Once again, definitely worth watching…

Wow, your review is interesting. I actually found this to the worst of the Harry Potter movies. I felt that characters seemed a little “off,” and that the movie lacked emotion. (Except for the ending.) I blame the director. Did you notice that Chris Columbus had nothing at all to do with this one? I gave this one 3 out of 5.

Even if you didn’t like it, how could it be the worst? ‘Prisoner of Azkaban’ felt like the director was in a race and the pacing was WAY off. That has to be the worst of the 4 so far :)

Yep, Chris Columbus was not involved, but his absence didn’t bother me at all…

Yikes. We’re the opposite here. Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite of the 4.
