I have started working on loosing weight and getting in better shape, but it isn’t a New Year’s resolution. This is something I have been meaning to do for a while and I don’t want to make it meaningless by vowing to do it in 2005. Everyone knows most resolutions that happen on this day are useless. I started about 2.5 weeks ago and am currently down around 4.5 pounds. In the next week, Heather and I are probably going to Rex Wellness Center in Cary. She has been active in a gym for a good while now, but this will be new for me. Maybe this will help the diet change and push the weight loss farther and faster.
As my last post for the year, I want to wish everyone a happy New Year’s Eve and hope 2005 is even better for all of you than 2004. Have a fun and safe night…

Hardware.
Well, I haven’t had a wireless access point for a couple of months as I had given my old wireless router to my brother-in-law so that he would simply have a firewall that was better than the one included with Windows XP SP2.
I have been going back and forth on what to get, a Linksys WRT54G or an Apple Airport Express. The WRT54G had the advantage of a replaceable antenna and hackability from being based on Linux. The Airport Express had a printer server, iTunes streaming, and Apple’s traditional ease of use going for it. I was leaning toward the Airport Express, but had held off due to reading negative stories about it needing to be regularly power-cycled. However, my good buddy, Larry, helped with this as he had one himself and told me it worked wonderfully for him. So, yesterday I bought one from the Apple store near work and it is indeed working perfectly. I even have better range as I haven’t found any space in my yard which is not reachable at a decent speed now.
Unfortunately, this means I have spent even more money lately. Between joining Apple’s Select Developer program, buying a renewal to .Mac from Amazon at a nice discount, and purchasing Microsoft Office, I have spent a little too much money, but I am still on my way towards buying a PowerBook in 2005. Woohoo!
This could be really great news. If Think Secret’s rumor is right, Apple will release a headless consumer Mac at the price of $499 with a 1.25GHz G4. It will be simple and not too powerful, but in my opinion, a great addition to the product line. Go check out the story for more details and then sit back and wait to see if it is true

Personal.
Well, I am back from the Holidays, but still on vacation. I have quite few things to talk about, but I am in some pain at the moment. Unfortunately, early this morning, I took our dog out to do her business and then went upstairs to feed the cats. Well, on the way back down my foot slid out from under me and I landed on my back and went sliding down the rest of the stairs.
This is especially bad as I have a bad back to begin with. Luckily it isn’t as bad as it could have been and I am trying to stay up and moving around to try and get past this as quickly as possible
So I wonder if the MacRumors.com Page 2 post (less reliable than the main page) regarding MWSF Announcement Details could be true? The post was anonymous, so it could just be a crackpot, but it looks interesting:
15″ – upgrade to 1.67 Ghz G4, BT/AE built in, 80 GB, Backlit keyboard standard, Mobility Radeon 9800 (128 MB VRAM) Price – $2299
That could be very cool as it is the model I was looking at for purchase next year, $200 cheaper and with a nicer video card… Here’s hoping
Or maybe it shoots short and a PowerBook G5 is coming?
The item that seems more dubious is this:
Quicktime NG (next-gen)
First major change in the .mov format since QT 3. Integrated H.264, MP4, and Wavelet technology.
Support for .ogg, heAAC, and FLAC audio. (these will also be available for playback in new iTunes)
That just seems to answer too many people’s complaints and if the same were supported on the iPod? What the would people on Slashdot have to bitch about other than the price?

Movies.
This movie looks like it will be amazing…
Now, let me say, I have said this before and I was just wrong and uhm… wrong again. But, I will say this one looks interesting. I have seen Frank Miller’s work on ‘Sin City’ and the story/art is extremely dark and this movie looks to be staying true to it, so it could be an interesting ride…

So, I am currently in blog death (well, prior to this post). I just suck at writing prolifically. I could just talk about anything, but then I would be even more dull than usual
I am kinda in a lull right now. Actually right now I feel like just going to sleep. Not because I am tired, but simply so I can relax and not worry about stupid shit. I think I do have just a tad of obsessive compulsive in me
I can’t seem to simply ignore something I am struggling with and hope it turns out for the best. Instead I contemplate it most of my waking hours. I really wish I could be much more oblivious to life and just ‘go with the flow’…
Oh well, this entry is rather bleak. Maybe I’ll be in a better mood this weekend and can post something a bit more positive
