Sheep, Knights, Halloween, oh my

Just got back from a rockin’ good Halloween party at a few friends’ house. Lots of people and lots of fun. I hope to be posting some pics soon. I think a great time was had by all.

Short post as I am about to fall in the floor from sleepiness, but I’m sure I will be back with more…

iPod (Now in Color)

So, Apple has released the iPod Photo. It looks very nice, but I can’t say the photo feature is my most anticipated. I like the idea of Album Art being displayed, the fact that the battery life has been boosted, and of course the color screen. I was tempted to buy when I first saw it (damn, I am an ADD gadget freak), but now I think I will wait a rev or two of the product lines, maybe wait till my iPod is a couple years old and really out of space. I would love the 60GB model, but I still want a feature Apple has not included. If it doesn’t come with the iPod it is doubtful it will be added later (see 4G features not back-ported to the 3G). What I want is, Gapless playback, in both iTunes and the iPod. Listening to a concert with tiny pauses is just annoying, but I also don’t want to have to combine all the tracks into one massive file either.

Oh well, maybe when they likely rev the product lines in 1st quarter 2005…

Delicious Library cometh

I mentioned back in August that I was very anxious to see the release of Delicious Monster’s Delicious Library software. According to MacMinute and the website at DM, the software is to be released on November 8th at a price of $39.95.

A slight bit pricey, but from what I can see of the features it may very well be worth it. Barcode scanning via iSight or a bluetooth scanner (which they sell) and automatic synchronization with the iPod sound very nice.

Almost there…

It is Friday at 4:22 PM and I am almost done for the week. I am sitting at my desk at IBM writing a script to automate the work I have been doing and all seems to be going well. I love it when works leads me to something I really enjoy. Rocking out to ‘A Perfect Circle’ on my iPod. I really believe that listening to music while working really makes me more productive.

I know I have apparently been AFK for the past week or so, but work has continued to take a toll on my free time, but such is life. I think I will start posting from work occasionally, as I am now, just to keep on top of this.

I do think I will follow in Larry’s footsteps and post some lyrics. The Outsider by ‘A Perfect Circle’ is just a great song; engaging music, interesting lyrics with a distant, empty feeling that reminds me of songs by ‘Tool’ and ‘Nine Inch Nails’.

“The Outsider”

Help me if you can
It’s just that this, this is not the way I’m wired
So could you please,

Help me understand why
You’ve given in to all these
Reckless dark desires

You’re lying to yourself again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it, put it on the faultline
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this. Why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess. I don’t want to watch you.

Disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time
What’s your rush now, everyone will have his day to die

Medicated, drama queen, picture perfect, numb belligerence
Narcissistic, drama queen, craving fame and all its decadence

Lying through your teeth again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it, put it on the fautline
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Go with this, why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess, I don’t wanna watch you…

Disconnect and self destruct one bullet at a time
What’s your rush now, everyone will have his day to die

They were right about you
They were right about you

Lying to my face again
Suicidal imbecile
Think about it put it on the fautline
What’ll it take to get it through to you precious
Over this, why do you wanna throw it away like this
Such a mess, Coalesce, Coalesce

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet at a time
What’s your hurry, everyone will have his day to die
If you choose to pull the trigger, should your drama prove sincere,
Do it somewhere far away from here

Analog to Digital Conversion

I was curious if anyone has an opinion on using the Canopus ADVC300 with a Mac? I am looking at getting a nice Analog to Digital converter, but I am unsure if the extra expense over their cheaper ADVC100 is worth it. Basically, I want something that will last through the long haul and something that will not lose A/V sync. It seemed as if spending a bit more to get a prosumer setup might be better.

If you’re curious about the need for a Analog to Digital converter, I plan on pulling recordings off of my DirecTiVo and also continuing to use my older 8mm camcorder. I still haven’t found a MiniDV camcorder that fits all my needs and budget and I think this might be a mid-point type option.

Oh well, just considering it at the moment :)

Laziness abounds

Wow, I suck at updating this blog lately. I have been very lazy at keeping my own crap going, but I have been spending a good bit of time at work. I have a looming deadline and lots to get in place between now and then, but I will try to get back with the blog…

I don’t think I mentioned it, but I got hooked up with NetFlix and I am loving it. What a better deal than hitting Blockbuster or getting Pay-Per-View. Heather and I got into the show, ‘Dead Like Me’ which it morbidly fun. I finally got to finish all of ‘Firefly’ and now Joss Whedon’s feature film version, named ‘Serenity’ just cannot come soon enough.

Looks like I am going to be able to get together with some of the old Oculan crowd on Sunday. I am definitely looking forward to it. It is so nice to have worked with a crew that I still enjoy seeing.

Hmmm…now the question on my mind is what should Heather & I dress up as for Halloween. I also wanna get the Vegas dog a costume to welcome the Trick or Treaters. She’ll destroy anything on her head so that limits the choices a bit…
