Weave posted on the same story I had planned to, but I figure the more people ripping on the EB store in Florida the better as they seem to have taken customer service to a whole new level.
How can you buy stolen goods, sell them in less than the legally mandated wait period, and then overcharge the original owner when they try to reclaim the goods? My understanding of the law is that there is a waiting period before purchased, used goods can be sold. In this case it was supposed to be 15 days. Also, the rights of someone purchasing stolen goods are at about the same level as the thief. The goods should be confiscated by the police for return to their original owner, then if you want your money back, you have to sue the thief.
So, EB decides that is too difficult and decides to take advantage of a customer and possibly break some rules in order to make a few bucks? That’s not even mentioning the bad publicity. I keep thinking I must be missing some details here, but it just seems rather insane… I do like the idea of the ABC Hall of Shame though.
