Freaky Film

If you are in the mood for a fun horror/suspense/mystery film, then check out Identity. I can’t say much more about it without giving away some of the plot, but Heather and I really liked it. Clicking in at around an hour and a half, it is rather short but I never lost interest and there were quite a few times I was on the edge of my seat. I didn’t even come close to guessing the ending, but it was a lot of fun…

My New V

I picked up my new 2003 Honda CR-V EX on Friday. Had to walk out on Thursday night when the dealer wouldn’t come down enough to match the price at Cars Direct, but then on Friday morning our salesman called with an offer close enough that I took it.

I got the “Mojave Mist Metallic” color which I love. I tacked on the following accessories:

Front Splash Guards
All Season Floor Mats
Cargo Tray

I am thinking about adding the Cargo Area Cover and the Leather Steering Wheel Cover, but I couldn’t get it all to start off with. The mini-SUV handles great and is very comfortable, not to mention having a stellar safety rating.

I hope to be posting some pics tomorrow, but so far it has done nothing but rain. With any luck tomorrow will be clear enough that I can get some nice pics.

New ride on the horizon

I think I may finally be replacing a source of pain and annoyance for me (mostly as the company has ticked me off), my 1996 Saturn SL-1. It served me well, but I believe it is time to get a car of higher quality.

I am currently planning on getting the 2003 Honda CR-V EX. I absolutely love this suv. It has tremendous safety ratings, has a nice feel while driving, and seems to fit my tastes for understated design. I would love to hear from others who have any experience with the 2nd gen models of the CR-V, but I haven’t found anyone so far who has not been happy with their purchase.

Peace, Quiet, and Home Improvement

Wow, I’m sorry it has been this long since my last post. Work has been crazy lately as I seem to be staying rather late just about everyday. There just always seems to be too much to do. Thank goodness I enjoy it or life would be hell.
Hope all of you had a relatively painless tax day. All I can say is that Intuit’s TurboTax for the web just pisses me off and it didn’t use to, but I don’t normally wait till the last minute to file my taxes. It is just bad form when your software tells the user that your taxes to the state have to be mailed by April 15th when you’re filing on April 14th and then say that you have to wait 1 to 5 days for the form to be accepted before giving mailing instructions. Also saying a tax form was accepted on the 16th, but not telling me till the 18th when additional things have to be done is just not right either. All of this while only offering support if your willing to pay out $4.95 or $19.95. That would be fine if the software understood the concept of time and legal requirements… :(

Sleep is for the weak

Well, it’s 2 AM and I still can’t sleep. I hate it when I am lying on the couch at night watching some TV and I fall asleep for a half hour or so and it totally throws me off. So I checked e-mail, watched some of a DVD, and have now been reading the news… Still not even the slightest bit tired :(

I did enjoy reading about the updates to Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro announced to today at the NAB conference. Interestingly, I believe DVD Studio Pro cost $999 prior to this announcement and now it is $499. I am guessing they don’t want to make a mid-level product comparable to Final Cut Express, so they decided to just reduce the cost of by half. This brings it to a level that if I ever get more heavily into making DVDs, I could actually justify the purchase as I could with FCE.
